A.I.

A.I.

A.I. stands for Artificial Intelligence. Before we dive into the world of A.I., what is the definition of intelligence? As Mr. Farrell said, "Intelligence is the opposite of stupidity." It may not be the exact quote, but it is what I can remember from my memory. So then, what is intelligence. According to Google, Intelligence is "the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills." Mr. Farrell wanted me to look into Multiple Intelligences, and so I did.

Multiple Intelligences

The theory of multiple intelligence was developed by Howard Gerdner, who sugegsted that the traditional notation of I.Q. was far to limited.

In total, there are 7 different intelligences:

Visual-Spatial: Thinking in terms of physical space, like a architect.

Bodily-kinesthetic: Using the body effectively, like an athlete, a surgeon, or a dancer

Musical: Showing sensitivity to mythym and sound,

Interpersonal: Understanding and being to interact with others around you

Intrapersonal: Understandding one's self

Linguistic: Using words effectively

Logical -Mathematical: Reasoning, and calculating

Another Famous Person

Alan Turing, is the name of a man, that might be tatood on Mr Millers torso. So why would he be tatood on Mr Millers torso. That's because, he is another famous person. Turing is widley known as the father os theoretical computer science. Alan Turing was a British computer scientist. He helped aid the allies in World War II, by aiding in deciphering German encrypted messages. His help gave the allies an upperhand in many battles.

Alan Turing, was well known for his help in World War II. The enigma, was a device, that helped with the decrypition of many German messages.

The turing test, is also an invention, of Alan Turing, which is a test, to determine the intelligent behavior of a computer.

Cleverbot

One great example of A.I. are chat bots. One well known one, being the Cleverbot. I had a conversation with clever bot, and here are a few snippets.

Using Python, I attmpted to create my own simple chat bot. But there is a slight twist. I designed my chat bot, with intention of turning it into an insult bot. So my chat bot said some pretty mean things. Be warned. Here is the coding.

For the first time on Python, I used lists.

Here is an example of a conversation I had with my chat bot.

Rock Paper Scissors

Today, we used Python to program rock paper scissors. To do so, we used the random code, so that the computer would choose a random item to throw out. Then we used a few conditionals, to define whether the computer or the player won. Here is some of the code.

Here is an example of the program in action.

As you can see, I programmed the game, to keep track of the score.

Speaking

Today, we would get our chatbot to speak. To do so, we imported the file, called "steel"

To get python to actually say something, input this code. The text in green can be changed to whatever you want to be said.

We also were able to connect python to a large database, using WolframAlpha. To do so, we signed up on WolframAlpha, and got a code. Next, we used a saved template on our comuputer, to access WolframAlpha. Once the code is installed, we can get answers to question we ask the program.

Today, my chatbot took the turing test. However, when I went outside, the random code, chose me to be human. So I decided to act like my robot. However, out of the 18 people that voted, two thirds voted that the responses were human. That made me sad.

Smartest Machine in the World

Today, we watched a documentary about the Smartest Machine in the world. This was the story, of the IBM team inspired by jeopardy player, Ken Jennings, if they could create a robot that could play Jeopardy at that level. Their robot took many years to finish, but when it finally appeared on Jeopardy, it won.

One thing I found incredibly interesting, was how they programmed Watson. They programmed Watson to look through past examples, and learn from them. And I think that that is the most important aspect of intelligence, the ability to learn.

After the first movie, we watched another moive, "War Games". In this moive, a boy hacks into a company, in order to get a sneak peak at some games to be realeased. However, this boy access a computer with access to some pretty large military stuff. The games he plays are actually transmitted to the military, and those working there actually believed that the Soviet Union was attacking. Turns out that the roboot was bluffing everything. I thought that the moive, was a bit awkward at some times, but in all, it was an great movie about A.I.
