Server Project:

What a server looks like.

In computer science we were taught the basics of Servers. From what are the parts that make-up a server to what each part does.

Below is the the basic layout of our server.

The basic components of a server are the CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Optical Drive, Powersupply, Cooling system, and Heatsink.

The CPU is the brain of our server. "CPU" stands for Central Processing Unit.Right now it's hidden under our heatsink which prevents it from overheating.

The RAM, or "Random Acess Memory", is kind of like the short term memory of our server. These are the two long vertical sticks.

The fans help take hot air out of the server and bring cool air in. When doing heavy task a cooling system is VERY important.

Troubleshooting

When we had a server which was malfunctioning (not turning on, monitor won't show, error message) we would go into "Geek Squad" mode. First we would, of course, try turning on the PC. If that didn't work we would unplug it and try again.
