Motherboard

The Motherboard is the entire system of circuits and wires that make up the server floor. Every processing and storage unit is connected to eachother via the Motherboard.



Central Processing Unit

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is one of the most essential pieces of a computer. This component processes all incoming and outgoing data, be it communication, calculation, and even organization.



Graphics Processing Unit

The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) processes all data into visual presentation. This component is responsible for generating images, words, and numbers at a frame rate based on the specific GPU.



Random Access Memory

The Random Access Memory (RAM) is responsible for decreasing access time to data recently opened. To do this, the RAM temporarily holds memory, like browsing history, so that the computer does not need to reobtain it upon data access.



Power Supply

The power supply for this server is a rechargable battery. It provides electricity necesary for the computer to accomplish anything.



Disc Tray

The Disc Tray processes the information stored within a disc and transfers it into the computer.



Heat Sinks

Heat sinks are vital component for keeping your computer functional. Every processing unit needs a heat sink on top of it to absorb any heat generated by the units and, therefore to prevent overheating.



Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting is a very effective method of fixing problems within a computer's server. In class, we learned to troubleshoot through practice scenarios. Our class was divided into groups, each group tasked to "break" a server. After unplugging and rearranging wires, we then rotated servers and had to fix another group's server. We soon discovered how monotonous troubleshooting can be, with us having to constantly test the placement of wires over and over again. However, in the end, this process turned out succesful. The most memorable lesson I have taken from this experience is how vital every component is to the operation of a computer.
