Whats in a Coumputer?


1. The Motherboard

(Google Dictionary definition) The Motherboard is the a printed circuit board containing the principal components of a computer or other device, with connectors into which other circuit boards can be slotted.

(Personal Definition) It is esentialy the crosswalk that allows otherparts of the coumputer to coumunicate.


2. The Graphics Card

(Google Dictionary definition) The Graphics card is a printed circuit board that controls the output to a display screen.

(Personal Definition) The Graphics card runs the 3d calculations and sends information to the moniter.



3. Random Access Memory or RAM

(Wikipideia definition) Random-access memory (RAM /r�m/) is a form of computer data storage. A random-access device allows stored data to be accessed directly in any random order.

(Personal Definition) Ram is the coumputer's "thinking space"



4. Central Processing Unit or CPU

(Google Dictionary Definition) The Central Processing Unit is the part of a computer in which operations are controlled and executed.

(Personal Definition) This is the Brain of the coumputer.



5. Hard Drives and Solid State Drive

(Personal Definition) Hard Drives and Solid State Drives are coumputr memory they store all the data and programs on a coumputer.



6. Power Supply

(Personal Definition) This Componet powers the coumputer or converts power into power that the coumputer can use.



6. Micilanious Drives

(Personal Definition) These are all the non esential components for the coumputer such as the disk drives, fan controlers or Led controlers.



7. The Wires

(Persolnel Definition) These are the variuos plugs and connecter that connect the differnt parts of the coumputer together.



8. Cooling

(Personal Defiiniton) Cooling is used to keep the coumputer from over heating. This can include fans, wich Push and pull air into the case to ciculate the hot air. Another Piece of cooling Hard ware is the Heatsink.The heatsink absorbs the heat from the component its on and helps distribute it on a greater serifce so that the fans can send the heat out of the case.



9. Ports

(Personal Defiiniton) Ports alow the coumputer to transfer information to and from other devices such as USBs.



10. The Case

(Personal Definition) This holds all the componets and protects them from the enviorment.

Trouble Shooting

1. Boot the coumputer
2. See whats not working
3. Connect the cords that coralate to whats not working.

An Example

The Nafarious sabutures of the class have caused a server to stop working. It was my groups task to repair the damages.

1st We booted up the coumputer only to find it would not start.

2nd We opened the case and put the conection from the motherboard to the power button

3rd Since the Bios was not working after the boot up we had to see what was wrong with the motherboard.

4th The Ram was not pluged in, we pluged it in and Voila the coumputer boots.
