Computer Graphics

The Beginning of Computer Graphics

The first signs of computer graphic life was during the 1950's at MIT, known as the Whirlwind and Sage Projects. It was here Douglass T. Ross introduced the light pen and displayed a visual of Disney cartoon characters from a computer for the very first time!

Alice : First 3D Graphics Program

Alice is the first 3D graphics program I ever learned to use. Its set up is quite simple, the program even comes with a pre-set gallery of objects to use within your world.

You can create scenes using these characters and objects even allowing you to control the perspective in which the user will see your world. Such as the view of this snowman on an island. It appears this snowman is enjoying himself on this little peaceful island.

Or it appears...

When we move the camera angle just slightly another aspect in the environment is revealed>

SketchUp

SketchUp is another computer graphics program that actually allows you to manipulate structures and forms rather than create scenarios like the Alice program.
