These are the components of a server:

The Heatsink
It absorbs heat from the computer and disperses it.

Clock Battery
The battery powers a chip called the Real Time Clock,
which makes sure the clock always has the correct time and date.

The CPU
It processes instructions that it gathers from decoding the code
in programs and other such files.

Fan
The computer fan pulls the heat from the heatsink that is
connectted to the CPU and escorts it out of the computer

Hard Drive
Hard drives store system information and well as program files

Motherboard
All other components and peripherals plug into it,
and the job of the motherboard is to relay information between them all.

Ports
a port serves as an interface between the computer and other
computers or peripheral devices. Physically, a port is a specialized
outlet on a piece of equipment to which a plug or cable connects.

Ram Cards
a RAM card is an add-in board used to add
additional RAM into a computer.

Graphics Card
The graphics card is basically another core/brain/CPU with it's own RAM
for displaying your graphics from your games/movies,etc..

The Disk Drive
A device that allows a computer to read from and write to computer disks.

Computer Cables
connects a computer to a power source o r other device.

The Power Supply
It gives poer to the vital parts of the motherboard asswell as taking power into itself.

Today we learned about the inside of the server the specific parts. First we plugged in the cords into the server and screen and turned it on to make sure it worked, after the startup test was succesful we unplugged everything and began the dissasembly. We removed the screws and exposed the insides, the plugs, cables, motherboard, harddrive, and diskdrive. I went through and removed the cables that were able to be removed without harming the computer motherboard, and pushed them aside. I then removed the ram cards and looked at the insides. I debated about removing the heatsinks, I didnt even try to remove the copper one, it was much bigger and was screwed down. Now the other silver looking one was held down by four clamps so i removed it and then quickly put it back later remembering I was not supposed to move it.We skimed around finding the plugs we could and could not remove, then we went to plug it all back in, at first forgetting where some plugs went we put it together and turned it on. When the screen didn't turn on we looked around and saw one plug not in, we quickly put it back and booted up the server, being a complete success we closed it back up, powered it down, and put it away.
