RAM

Note RAM, or random-access memory, is used to be able to allow data to be read a roughly the same amount of time, regardless of the order the items are accessed. RAM memory is often used for temporary storage, space for operating systems and virtual memory.

CPU

Note CPU, or central processing unit, carries out the instructions of the computer program by using basic arithmetical, logical and input/output operations. A computer can have multiple CPUs, which is known as multi-processing, with some integrated circuits even having multiple CPUs on a single chip.

Motherboard

Note A mother board essentially connects all of the computer components together. Also they have expansion apabilities, which allows them to have components added to them, and also makes them different from the main boards found in washing machines and TVs which cannot be expanded.

CPU

Note An expansion card which generates a feed of output images to a display such as a monitor. There are also two kinds, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are when the graphics card is "integrated" into the motherboard. This is beneficial since it is more economical and uses less energy. However, since it is sharing resources with the CPU on the motherboard, an intergrated graphics card's performance drops. With a dedicated graphics card, it has its own RAM, cooling system, and power regulators which heightens its performance.

CD Disk Drive

Note A disk drive that uses laser light or electromagnetic waves within or near the visible light spectrum as part of the process of reading or writing data to or from optical discs.

CD Disk Drive

Note A data storage device that utilizes one or more rotating magnetic disks that are read and written on by a moving actuator arm. There were invented in 1956, but are still widely used due to their performance, with some reaching capacity ranging in terabytes.
